- Sounds like you have a short to the red wire of the brake controller. This circuit is supposed to only see voltage when the brakes are applied. If this circuit has voltage all the time it's going to tell the controller to be constantly applying the brakes. If you test the circuit and it doesn't have voltage all the time the issue then would be a bad brake controller.
